Case

How FootLog was built

Why we made it

Amateur footballers can't run with a phone in hand during a match. And a general running app barely surfaces what actually matters in football — short sprints, hard acceleration and deceleration, changes of direction. All you were left with afterwards was total distance.

How it measures

Apple Watch handles measurement during the match, using GPS and the heart rate sensor to record activity data. Results are available on iPhone after the match.

FootLog calculates distance and top speed as well as sprint count, high-speed running distance, acceleration, deceleration and changes of direction. It also combines these values into a single score so players can compare activity levels across matches.

What it offers today

FootLog provides individual match records and team features. Records from teammates in the same match appear together on one scoreboard.

We check every change on real devices and during matches. Measurement results can vary with the amount of data and the condition of the device.
